Tire & Rubber Industry

Root Problems:

Green Rubber is extremely tacky making the material difficult to process due to adhering to much of the tire building equipment.

Cement adhesive applied to ply's of rubber is sticky and causes additional process issues.

Molding Process requires a renewable temporary release spray - on going material expense that causes area & equipment hygiene issues.

While transferring the ply's of rubber across stationary parts such as splicing table in- feed & out - feed plates, the tackiness of the rubber causes hang ups and bottle necks. This is where a high release, low COF coating is needed.

Coating properties needed:

Long Lasting Release/ Cleanability/ Low COF/ Wear Resistance.

Common Applications:
  • Molds
  • Top & Bottom Bead Mold
  • Building Drums
  • Bead Rings
  • Belt Cutting Anvils
  • Transfer Rolls
  • DSB Sheet Rings
  • UBD Forming Rings / Pie Pans
  • Tread Cutting Anvils
  • Cutter Tables
  • Magnetic Rail Housing
  • Pull Rolls
  • Breaker Building Drums
  • Glue Applicator
  • Veneer Stitching Conveyor Rolls
  • Top & Bottom Bead Mold
  • Fabric Cutter Tables
Typical cost savings are arrived from:
  • No need for continual reapplication of mold release sprays.
  • Operator ease of pulling tire carcass & bead off building units means not distorting the product and causing less scrap.
  • Ease of cleaning cement adhesive from applicator assemblies and eliminating down stream contamination
  • Low friction & high release on stationary auxiliary parts coming into contact with green rubber that routinely causes bottle necks in production.
